This will be done entirely in terminal
Step 1. First open up terminal and check your current MAC adress this can be done with the following command
Quote:
check: ifconfig en1 | grep ether
Step 2. Disassociate yourself from all wireless networks, this is to make sure that it truly switches your MAC adress. Once again this can be done with the following command
Quote:
disassociate: sudo airport -z
Step 3. Now we're going to actually change your MAC adress, the mac adress can contain the numbers 0-9 and the letters a-f (correct me if I'm wrong I could be off a few digits). Use this command to change it.
Quote:
change: sudo ifconfig en1 ether [random mac here]
Step 4. Go back to step 1 and check to make sure it shows a different MAC adress. Now if your uncreative like me and cant think of a random enough MAC you can use the following command to generate one for you, just plug it in the Step 3 command.
Quote:
openssl rand -hex 6 | sed 's/\(..\)/\1:/g; s/.$//'
Congrats your MAC adress is now changed momentarily and you can reconnect to wifi. You will need to change it again upon system reboot and possibly upon waking (havent tested personally, sorry)
